How the 2011 Ford Power Stroke Beat GM’s Duramax | Banks Speed School
To better understand how Ford is winning the diesel horsepower war today, Gale Banks inspects a 2011 Ford Power Stroke that was given to him back in 2010. He tears down the engine and walks through various important innovations.

Upgrade your Duramax oil cooler! Better cooling means longer lasting oil.
Had a Pedal Commander for a couple weeks and it was terrible. Customer service kept trying to take me in circles to avoid the return too.
hi have you made a intake for a 2013 GT mustang thank you
This chatter is old school .. almost all cars today will vary valve duration, timing and lift continuously for optimum balance between performance, emission and fuel economy, and it’s all controlled by the DME through solenoids that divert oil in different passages to rotate the cams and lock the lifter at different heights
On old stuff, you needed restriction. Old Bosch plunger pump cars ran well and would backfire and go really lean when you had no exhaust. I bet they would have ran like a scalded dog if you ran up the fuel.
You're videos are what the substitute teacher puts on.
Mr. Edelbrook
Thanks for finally downloading your knowledge for generations on yt!
Banks is the SHIT!
So, DEF actually ruins your exhaust faster because it creates water vapor; nice.
Saving the environment 1 plastic jug at a time.
All hail gale 🙌 the boost daddy speaks the truth but are you ready for his prophecy's
Did anyone get that??
They’ve been making these same filters for 40 yrs lol. Cmon man

I have 2012 dodge ram long horn always get overheated when I’m pulling a trailer or just running the a/c with this heat of Texas. So my question is. Is that something I need for my truck? And I’m only getting 14.5 miles per gallon. What do I need to do to this Cummins 6.7 engine? I Need something to give me a better mileage and don’t get overheating, please give me some advice. Thank you
Wait does anyone seriously dispute the efficacy of this thing?!? We air cool FUCKIN EVERYTHING...in what world would a non-air cooled cover EVER perform better than an actively air cooled cover?! Theres no chance, thermodynamics says theres absolutely no fuckin chance in hell, its just that simple.
Do you make them for 71 dodge 8/34?
RIP Joe
They are absolute garbage or made every code possible go off on my truck it actually wouldn't let me truck start once it started I had no power steering and nothing on my cluster worked I took it off and haven't had a problem since
I enjoy Gale's commentary and the manner in which he speaks, I LMAO. I'm looking in the future to add some of his equipment to the 496 Vortex in my Tiffin Motorcoach. It currently has 3"ID duals but no long tube headers, high flow cats and quiet mufflers also 4"ID. I intend shortly to replace the ignition wires & perhaps the coil packs, but not without speaking to some of his knowledge. I want more torque but not at the expense of noise or major loss of fuel efficiency. His company has the products so that is where I will go.
My son wanted to improve the performance of his Saab 900T by modifying the intake & exhaust systems. The performance suffered, he did not know what he was doing. I put everything back to stock and the performance returned.
im a new ram 1500 owner and just picked up my truck 3 days ago....any recommends for must upgrades other than running boards, bed covers, and wheels/tires? id like to customize and personalize it but im not sure where to start. its the v6 vortec engine and i upgraded from a stock ford ranger that i ran for years and years and years haha so this is quite a big upgrade for me and i love it so far
i dont have a cummings in mine but now i wish i did haha
When are you going to make one for Toyota
Hahaha I loved the emphasis on the CARBON MONOXIDE. Blows my mind how little the government and the sheeple know about emissions. As long as you have a vehicle with no check engine light on ( CEL nowadays is basically telling you your vehicle has an emissions related issue ) and your catalyst is 100% operational the harmful emissions exiting your exhaust is damn near 0. In today’s gasoline engines for every L of gasoline burnt 1 L of water exits the tail pipe. For a Diesel engine the EGR isn’t needed and NOX is only created during a lean condition. The only emission that a Diesel that’s tuned is particulates, tuned diesels tend to be on the richer side always. So instal a soot trap and all of a sudden they are also basically 0 emissions
Gale "air density" "ram air" Banks
I already knew the guy calling an engine a motor was going to be a disaster, I thank you Gale for the video.
Looks to be not a big enough gain… waste of money.. keep the stock cover, keep some money in your pocket
I miss my Passat TDI... 53mpg... but I still get to enjoy my duramax LLY... The DEF was the worst conception ever... oh, it freezes... oh, it makes a heck of a mess if you spill it... oh, your car shuts off if you run out 😮
Works best, when it is filled with dust and dirt, this shovel on your axle.
For rock crawling and high-speed trophy trucks, the Ram Air diff cover will be fine. The scoops don't hang below the differential housing, so it's unlikely they'll get filled with debris. If you are driving through an environment where they might get filled with mud, the cover will still cool the gear oil better than stock and all high-capacity covers. The fins do most of the heat rejection. To remove any debris, since the scoops are open on both ends, you can simply hose them out. As an added safety bonus, the Ram-Air scoops have a breakaway point that prevents damage if the scoop is snagged. In short, if a scoop gets caught, it will break away and not rip the cover off.
like Bill Nye the Scinece Guy for engines. Thank you Mr. Banks
I’m in shock that Banks is promoting this trash. DEF and EGR are just more expenses the govt wants to add to diesels so that people cannot afford so there forth they purchase traditional gas or electric vehicles. Tuning and piston technology will produce better emissions and fuel economy. Shame on Banks.
At least this is one product you make that won't constantly throw check engine codes....
Soooo DEF is urine, got it
What happens when you put 15-50 diesel oil in a turbo engine that's supposed to use 0-40 synthetic oil
Times 100 or times 100 percent? Wouldn‘t time 100 percent not just be… 1?
Not to mention you're heating the shit out of your motor with increased exhaust temps, causing increased air temps and lowering air density.
Bless his heart; we don’t have shop class at most schools anymore
That voice was the narrator for my childhood! Never missed an episode! U changed a lot of lives and made a generation of DIYers ! The new generation is soft we had really smart men that guided us!
Rejects heat?
Spray water in front of the radiator with irrigation nozzles from Home Depot or Lowe’s. A 5 gallon tank with some hose a pump and a switch when you need it makes a huge difference
The remark that it increases fuel economy is a lie.
The problem is that the filters get obscured and they're super expensive to replace and you have to cut the entire exhaust system opened to do it and the EGR cooling system gets filled up and obscured so that it has to be replaced. Overall you end up cutting the lifespan of a diesel engine in half. Maybe worth conventional diesel engines in the old days we could make them run millions of miles nowadays you're really lucky if you can get close to 300000 miles before you have major repairs
Preach
A lot of words for saying there is more metal surface to lose heat
DEF is the single worst thing they’ve ever invented. So if one thinks it’s better for the environment.. stand close to a truck that has started regen & see how long you can breathe. It’s almost as bad inside the cab as well, not to mention the 11-1200 degree temp
